"Momentum did a great job delivering an awesome prototype on time and under great pressure."
- Ben Feinman, Director of Product Management at MobiTV
NBC (2000)
When first launched the Snap.com Broadband page was a showcase of multimedia content from vendors. This initial design simply pointed to other pages in the Snap.com portal. The site, however, quickly changed and little by little it started to release more advanced features. By end of 1999, NBCi had solidified it's relationship with Macromedia and was the first major portal to showcase dynamic Flash navigations and widgets as well as the first portal to have a multimedia player much like the ones seen on the current major news outlets. By Summer 2000 the NBCi Broadband portal consisted of sixty Broadband Content channels with over 30 content providers.
Our principal ui designer worked on the Information Architecture of Navigation Systems, Media Player, and Page Layout. At times the role was expanded into the main portal Snap.com and the NBC.com site where Flash components were developed, page layouts were designed, and in some instances corporate ID was designed. The major role to design Flash based UI components in some cases with a third party vendor, but primarily within the interface engineering group. Another major role was to set the Flash standards for the multimedia ads on the portal.
